Engaging Youth in Agriculture

Moderated by Kipp Sutton, Agricultural Practice Lead for the USAID Regional Office-Asia, his session will highlight examples of how young entrepreneurs have been attracted to work in agriculture, with examples from Ethiopia, Liberia, India, Philippines, Thailand and Latin America. Dr. David Hall of RTI will share his experiences as Chief of Party on the Excellence in Higher Education for Liberian Development (EHELD) project to establish a new model of agriculture, resulting in increased interest from youth (including women) in an agricultural career. A young Indian national, Rashmi Ekka, will explain how she used her experience in development consulting to launch her agribusiness in Ethiopia. CRS will share some of their experiences in motivating youth to work in agriculture, primarily from their recent work in Latin America.
