Private Sector Perspectives on Linking Rural to Urban Markets
DATE: Tuesday, March 28
LOCATION: Ballroom 1
Facilitated by USAID’s Division Chief for Private Sector Engagement at the Bureau for Food Security, Katie Garcia, this diverse panel will reflect the forefront of private sector growth and innovation along various supply chains. Malee, a large domestic juice processing business, will share their success with building semi-integrated supply chains in Thailand. Tesco Lotus, a multinational food retailer, will explain why they have moved toward increasingly integrated supply chains and share their progressive thinking on the future of food systems in Asia. Finally, Energaia, a small Thai start-up company, will offer insight into how they use an integrated value chain to stimulate international sales of an innovative product, Spirulina (blue-green algae), which some are calling the "spinach of the future" given its high nutritional value.
