Using Digital Financial Services to Expand Outreach

Three panelists will share lessons learned from facilitating finance to the under-served in developing countries. Hillary Miller-Wise will share experiences from ESOKO's virtual marketplace through which they offer mobile wallet applications, enabling farmers to save and borrow toward the purchase of discounted agricultural inputs in Ghana. Peris Bosire will explain how Farm Drive uses a mobile app to bridge the gap in agricultural risk management to facilitate financial services to smallholders in Kenya. Josh Woodard will discuss how FHI 360 has supported the expansion of digital financial services in Bangladesh, by partnering with Bank Asia, which offers debit cards to smallholders that facilitate the purchase of inputs.
