Innovations in Remote Sensing to Promote Sustainable Land Use in Rwanda, Bangladesh and China
THEME: Scaling Technology and Innovation for Agriculture
DATE: Tuesday, March 28
TIME: 1:00 PM
LOCATION: Ballroom 2
Increased investment in productive land is key to unlocking the potential of rural production to improve food security for growing urban markets around the world. Lack of information is a major barrier to investment, especially in regions that are remote with varied topography. Advances in remote sensing applications have the potential to facilitate needed investment in previously unconsidered areas. In this session, participants will explore the advancements in remote sensing and how the technology can be used to make more informed decisions to drive engagement of and investment in underused land and resources for sustainable agricultural production. Using three case studies from Rwanda, Bangladesh and China, participants will learn how the technology can be applied in different contexts and take away knowledge of how development actors, including governments, donors, and the private sector, can harness these applications in their own specific country and/or regional contexts.
