THEME: Improving Sustainability and Food Security in Urban Markets
DATE: Tuesday, March 28
TIME: 10:15 AM
LOCATION: Ballroom 1
SNV’s Sustainable Nutrition 4 All (SN4A) is a holistic, market-based approach to improving nutrition and food security, which includes scaling competitiveness and investment in safe, nutritious, and diverse foods via public-private partnerships and leveraging investments. SN4A seeks to increase availability, affordability, access, and utilization of nutritiously diverse foods. The key components are 1) creating demand for nutritious foods; 2) strengthening the supply and increasing the availability of these foods, including in burgeoning urban centers; 3) employing behavioral change methods; and 4) creating an enabling environment for increased production and consumption. In this session, participants will delve deeper into the SN4A approach through three projects based in Kenya, Cambodia, and Nepal. In each project SN4A increases the incomes and food security of rural smallholders via increased production and improved post-harvest handling, and increases the availability of nutritious and diverse foods in urban markets.
